Why are you running for office?: Having lived and owned a small business in Morro Bay for over 40 years, I believe it is time for a change in leadership for Mayor. My reasons include the City has had a systemic budget deficit, largely due to our PERS reserve account, the excessive use of consultants, utilizing a Law Firm based in Irvine, etc... I disagree with the recent 1% proposal for a Sales Tax increase because it has no assurance that it will be used for Public Safety and it has no Sunset clause as the pandemic is expected to end in the not-so-distant future.
What makes you qualified for the job?: I have been a successful small business owner for over 42 years in Morro Bay with branch offices in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles (Coast Electronics-RadioShack). A Past District Governor for Rotary which included training of club leaders for over 70 Rotary clubs and 3,500 members. Received extensive training for 3 years prior to serving as District Governor. Served as the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Morro Bay for four years. Chartered an environmentally based Rotary Club Eco-Rotary in 2011. Have a General Studies-Business Degree from Cuesta College. These opportunities and leadership training have, in part, prepared me to serve as Mayor at this challenging time.
What are your two main priorities if you win?: 1. To establish a weekly public forum with the business community and citizens which will also include fishing and visitor serving industries to collaborate and discuss the challenges each is facing.

2. To help tackle the looming budget deficit and associated capital projects and infrastructure. As part of this process, I believe that it is essential that the City leadership is transparent in all of its decisions.
How will you interact with other governments?: I have been a successful business owner for over 40 years in Morro Bay with branch locations in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles and have enjoyed working with the governments in those locations. In addition, I am familiar with the Cayucos Sanitary District where we have a shared sewer facility.
What are your plans to help overcome COVID-19?: By example to promote the distribution of masks, sanitizing stations, and education to meet CDC standards.
Which two issues are most important to you?: 1. To support our Police and Fire Departments.

2. To control the city budget to be able to provide services to all citizens in Morro Bay.
