Why are you running for office?: I am running for Grover Beach City Council because I believe our city is at a crossroads. We are ready to grow. We are ready to support a thriving downtown retail, restaurant, and tourist economy, but it’s essential that we keep the individualistic spirit that has defined us since the foundation of our city. We also find ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic that has crippled much of our local economy and made many of us re-evaluate our priorities. I am running for Grover Beach City Council because I believe I can help our city recover from this crisis. I believe I have the vision and temperament to help lead our city through these dark times and to see us through to a vision of increased prosperity and community in the years to come.
What makes you qualified for the job?: I have been a part of the Grover Beach Community for 16 years, where I have worked hand-in-hand with our County's restaurants, and independent retailers as a wholesale distributor. I understand the needs of our service, hospitality, and small business community. This business sector has been especially hard hit by the events of 2020 and needs someone who understands their situation and is dedicated to help. I believe in listening more and talking less. I believe more can come from a compromise than a zero sum victory. I believe I have the temperament, dedication, and a love for my community that qualify me for a seat on Grover Beach's City Council.
What are your two main priorities if you win?: 1. COVID-19 Support & Recovery

From small business grants to expedited approvals of permits for helping our businesses adapt to the ever changing realities of our world, I will support and pursue any and all initiatives designed to help support and promote our local businesses as they work to weather the storm that is the COVID-19 pandemic.

2. Street Repairs & Maintenance

While we are making great progress toward K-14’s promise of revitalized roads, I will work to help ensure the project continues to move forward within budget and on schedule. In addition to that, I will support measures to help ensure that our newly rehabilitated streets are maintained properly going forward so that we don’t find ourselves needing additional measures like K-14 in the future.
How will you interact with other governments?: We live in an increasingly interconnected world, and SLO's South County is no exception. As a member of the Grover Beach Council I would work in an appointed capacity on a handful of county-wide committees and would welcome inter city/region cooperation toward collective growth and recover. As is often said an I keep close to heart, "A rising tide lifts all boats"
What are your plans to help overcome COVID-19?: 1. Maintaining and following State and Federal Guidelines
2. Encouraging and supporting social distancing, masks.
3. Continuing supports for local businesses via grants and expedited permitting processes to help ensure they can survive this time and thrive once we're on the other side of the pandemic.
Which two issues are most important to you?: My mentors constantly remind me that candidates for local office who do so because of one or two single issues are often disappointed by their experience once elected, because so much of the job falls outside of their passion. To that point, I am running for this seat because I want to be a part of the process of Grover Beach's government and future, and believe I can help make a positive impact on that future. I am passionate about getting our City through the next months and years of struggle caused by COVID-19. I am passionate about making sure our City is well positioned to thrive once we get to the other side of this crisis. We must work toward plans that foster business attraction and increased tourism dollars, while working to ensure that those who choose to work in Grover Beach can also afford to live in Grover Beach.
