Car fire brings traffic to a halt through Carptineria

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - A car fire on the northbound 101 brought traffic to a standstill through Carpinteria.

An apparent engine fire under the Santa Monica Bridge started around 6:25 a.m. The CHP website reporting that the bridge now needs to be inspected for possible damage.

The traffic backup was visible from a Caltrans camera located near Rincon Road.

At 7:10 a.m. all northbound lanes were reported open.
