SLO firefighters put out vehicle fire in construction zone

A fire in a construction truck was kept from spreading to a propane tank Monday.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - San Luis Obispo City firefighters put out a fire in the bed of a truck inside a construction zone Monday morning.

The fire broke out at around 7:37 a.m. in the Righetti Ranch construction zone near the intersection of Tiburon Way and Orcutt Road.

Firefighters found a fire burning in the bed of the construction vehicle and a large propane tank in the bed.

Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to the propane tank. The valve of the propane tank was sealed once the fire was extinguished.

SLO City Fire credited the construction crew for contacting 911, allowing for a quick response.
