Giddy-up! Pony rides return to Waller Park in Orcutt

Orcutt, Calif. - Giddy-up! After a year of closure pony rides are returning to Waller Park in Santa Maria this weekend.

The pony rides closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the past several months the ponies operator Lisa Leonard has been working to restore the ride concession her father built 20 years ago.

Over the years the buildings deteriorated due to weather, Leonard said.

In light of her father's passing earlier this year, Leonard says being able to reopen the pony rides carries a special meaning for her.

She hopes families will come out so their kids can get a ride on a pony this weekend.
