CNN — Here’s a look at the Super Bowl, the championship game of the National Football League.
February 9th, 2025 - Super Bowl LIX is scheduled to take place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. This will be the 8th time the Superdome hosts a Super bowl, and will extend its record for stadium to host the most Superbowls.
The Kansas City Chiefs will take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Kick off at 6:30 E.T.
This is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, Chiefs defeated the Eagles back in 2023 in that game, 38-35. Super Bowl LIX will be the Chief's 5th Super Bowl appearance in the past six seasons. Chiefs' coach Andy Reid will make his sixth Super Bowl appearance, tying Don Shula for the second most behind only Bill Belichick (nine), and quarterback Patrick Mahomes ties John Elway with the second-most Super Bowl appearances (five) for a starting quarterback.
Entertainment
Grammy-winning hip hop artist, Kendrick Lamar, is scheduled to perform. It was announced that artist SZA, would joining in on the Halftime Performance.
This will be Lamar's second Super bowl appearance. Performing alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige during the Super Bowl halftime show in 2022.

Country music star Shania Twain has been revealed as the voice behind the first-ever Super Bowl ad of the Nestlé-owned Coffee Mate brand.
The "We listen and we don't judge" TikTok seems to be headed for the small screen in an Uber Eats ad teaser starring Charli XCX and Martha Stewart, and the big-game ad will also feature actor Matthew McConaughey.
Antonio Banderas will be in a commercial for Bosch with an actor portraying the late WWE star Randy Savage.
Daytime TV host Drew Barrymore and actor Orlando Bloom will star in the first-ever Super Bowl commercial for MSC Cruises
Marvel actors Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt will advertise Meta's Smart Glasses
Hellmann's Mayonnaise on Thursday teased a "When Harry Met Sally" reunion in a clip from its upcoming Super Bowl commercial, and the film’s stars, Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal
Post Malone (for the third time) and Shane Gillis will star in a game day ad for Bud Light.

First Super Bowl - January 15, 1967 - The first Super Bowl championship game was between the NFL (Green Bay Packers) and AFL (Kansas City Chiefs) champions at Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles. The score was Green Bay, 35 and Kansas City, 10. Attendance was 61,946. Bart Starr, the quarterback for Green Bay, was named the MVP.
Lowest Winning Score - February 3, 2019 - Lowest scoring winner - New England Patriots 13, Los Angeles Rams 3 - Super Bowl LIII, at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Highest Winning Score - January 28, 1990 - Highest scoring winner - San Francisco 49ers, 55, Denver Broncos, 10 - Super Bowl XXIV, at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. This was also the largest margin of victory to date.

The NFL also pays for 150 pieces of jewelry for the losing team, which may not cost more than half the price set for the Super Bowl ring.

Memorable Moments
January 20, 1985 - President Ronald Reagan accepted the invitation to be the first sitting President to carry out the pre-game toss on. Super Bowl XIX was held on the same day as Inauguration Day, so President Reagan carried out the coin toss via satellite from the White House. The Dolphins called heads – but President Reagan confirmed it was tails, giving San Francisco the choice to receive the ball from kick-off. San Francisco 49ers defeated the Miami Dolphins, 38-16.
February 1, 2004 - Janet Jackson’s breast is exposed during the halftime performance at Super Bowl XXXVIII (38) when fellow performer Justin Timberlake rips away a piece of her bodice. She later claims it was a “wardrobe malfunction.”
February 6, 2011 - Cowboy Stadium seating problems, “incomplete installation of temporary seats in a limited number of sections made the seats unusable,” leaves 1,250 ticket holders without seats. 850 were distributed around the stadium to other seats, 400 were left with no options. NFL promises triple refunds for the $800.00 ticket for all 1250 people.
February 3, 2013 - A power failure at the Super Dome halts the game and leaves half of the stadium in the dark for 34 minutes. Super Bowl XLVII (47) is played in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Baltimore Ravens defeat the San Francisco 49ers 34-31. Beyoncé is the half-time performer.
