CSUCI reports second confirmed COVID-19 case

CHANNEL ISLANDS, Calif. -- California State University, Channel Islands reports a second case of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The confirmed patient is a student at the university.

The student was on campus on September 3 but is not a residential student.

They are now self-isolating at their off-campus residence.

Due to privacy laws, the University is not allowed to release information on the student's identity.

The University is following protocols for infectious disease response in coordination Ventura County Public Health.

Anyone identified to having close contact with the students has been or will be notified immediately.

The first case of COVID-19 was reported on May 17.

The University says they will continue to provide virtual instruction and campus operations during the fall 2020 semester with the exception of a limited number of in-person classes.
