Oxnard police arrest alleged gang member for possessing ammunition, narcotics for sale

OXNARD. Calif. - Oxnard police arrested a man for possessing drugs at a home Sunday night.

Officers were patrolling near the area of Bard and San Juan around 7:45 p.m. when they came across a non-injury traffic accident.

While officers assisted the driver with exchanging information they recognized one of the passengers as documented gang member Jesse Cortez.

Cortez was on supervised release who was previously arrested for possessing a loaded and concealed gun on May 7.

Officers verified his probation and conducted a search at his home. During the search police found a large quantity of methamphetamine and believe it was used for the purpose of sales. They also found gun magazines and ammunition.

Cortez was then arrested for possessing narcotics for sale and possessing ammunition.
