Port Hueneme waterfront workers donate blood for COVID-19 relief efforts
PORT HUENEME, Calif. -- Waterfront workers of Port Hueneme hosted a blood drive on Thursday.
The Port partnered with American Red Cross to help replenish the blood supply nationwide.

The blood drive had over 40 people who donated blood.
Their blood donation will go to patients with various needs including those resulting from COVID-19.
The Oxnard Harbor District Board President gave the following statement:
“Our Port family answered the call, with longshoreman and stevedores coming together to donate blood to the American Red Cross. Our waterfront workers are heroes, not only have they been working day and night to make sure our families have food in the stores, they are now lining up to donate their blood.”

The Port moves $9.5 billion in goods each year and consistently ranks among the top ten U.S. ports for automobiles and fresh produce.
Their operations help support the economy by bringing $1.7 billion in economic activity and creating around 15,834 trade-related jobs.
