Pedestrian struck, killed by train near La Conchita
LA CONCHITA, Calif. - One person is dead after being struck by a train near La Conchita.
The Ventura County Fire Department says it received the report of a pedestrian hit by a train around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday. Union Pacific made the initial call to 911.
Firefighters arrived and found a body that had suffered traumatic injury. The person died at the scene.
The railroad in the area was closed until further notice. The closure impacted Union Pacific and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service.
The identity of the person killed has not yet been released.
