SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - California Highway Patrol reported that a motorcyclist died after crashing into a farm tractor on Orcutt Road Friday afternoon.

The crash happened around 1:07 p.m. just north of Tiffany Ranch Road.

CHP said the motorcyclist was driving a 2014 Harley Davidson northbound along Orcutt Road behind a John Deere tractor, which was traveling at less than 15 miles per hour.

Officers said the motorcyclist decided to pass the tractor in a legal passing zone, however, as he entered the southbound lane, the tractor made a left-hand turn toward a private driveway.

The motorcyclist reportedly crashed into the rear of the tractor and was ejected from his motorcycle. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor did not sustain any injuries.

At this time, CHP has only identified the victim as a 48-year-old man from Arroyo Grande.

The road was temporarily closed while emergency personnel responded.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
