Person sustains major injuries after being trapped under overturned truck south of Sisquoc



SANTA MARIA VALLEY, Calif. - One person sustained major injuries Friday evening after becoming trapped under an overturned pickup truck south of Sisquoc.
Around 7:17 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle crash at Dominion Road and Palmer Road near the Santa Maria Valley.
The first arriving engine company found a single pickup truck had rolled onto its side. One person was found trapped underneath the vehicle, having sustained major injuries.
Firefighters said they used the jaws of life to extricate the victim from underneath the vehicle. That person was determined to be in critical condition and flown by Cal Star air ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
The victim's condition is unclear at this time.
Dominion Road was closed to traffic just west of Palmer Road during the incident, however, the road is expected to be reopened soon.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
