Santa Barbara laundry mat evacuated due to gas leak

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara City firefighters evacuated a laundry mat late Monday morning after finding a gas leak in the area.

Around 10 a.m., firefighters responded to the area of Mission and De La Vina streets in Santa Barbara.

Upon arriving, crews determined a car had clipped an exterior gas line, causing a leak.

The nearby laundry mat was immediately evacuated.

Fortunately, the damage to the line was determined to be minor. The gas company responded and shut off the gas so that repairs could be made.

Santa Barbara police conducted traffic control in the area during the incident.
