Rollover crash results in major injuries on HWY 101 north of San Luis Obispo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Major injuries were reported after a car rolled over in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 just north of San Luis Obispo Friday evening.
California Highway Patrol, SLO City Fire, Five Cities Fire and CAL FIRE responded to the scene around 7:25 p.m.
Arriving personnel reported a black sedan overturned on the right-hand side of the freeway at Old Stage Coach Road. The car was reportedly on its roof. Another vehicle at the scene had major front end damage.
CAL FIRE said two people had successfully exited the vehicles.
Several bystanders stopped to assist with the crash. Some tried to stop traffic while others tried to roll the overturned vehicle back over.
CHP reported major injuries were sustained in the crash. Three people were transported to the hospital for treatment.
CHP said the slow lane of the freeway was blocked by the collision, drivers are advised to take is slow in the area.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
