Protesters stop traffic on US 101 in San Luis Obispo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Protesters entered both lanes of the US 101 in San Luis Obispo near Broad Street Sunday afternoon.
The crowd could be seen through CalTrans surveillance cameras blocking traffic completely on one side of the highway before 4:30 p.m. They headed down the highway in the direction of Marsh Street shortly after.
As of 4:45 p.m., law enforcement completely blocked off both directions of the 101 freeway near Marsh Street.
Earlier on Sunday, San Luis Obispo police closed the intersection of Santa Rosa Street and Foothill Boulevard for the protest which was described as peaceful.
