Semi-truck overturns on Monterey Road in Paso Robles
PASO ROBLES, Calif. - A semi-truck toppled over while driving along Monterey Road in Paso Robles at 1:34 p.m on Sunday.
Templeton CHP responded to the accident and found that no other vehicles were involved and that no one was injured.
The driver of the semi reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel.
While he was asleep, the truck veered to the right-hand side of the lane and drove off the road where it turned too sharply to the right, causing the tractor and trailer to fall over.
Because of the incident, both the northbound and southbound lanes of Monterey Road are temporarily closed.
West Coast CHP and Templeton CHP are working on clearing the roadway but do not yet know when the road will be reopened.
The CHP website said the semi-truck was carrying about 80,000 pounds of produce.
The truck fell over just 20 feet from the nearby train tracks. There were no reports of the trains being stopped.
