Highway 1 closures due to expected rain

MONTEREY, Calif. - Caltrans District 5 will be closing Highway CA 1 at Mud Creek and Paul's Slide this weekend in preparation for the upcoming rain.

Caltrans Public Information Officer Jim Shivers said Highway 1 will be closed at Paul's Slide at 5 p.m. on Saturday. It will later close at Mud Creek at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Shivers said that businesses on Highway 1 along the Big Sur Coast will still be accessible from Highways 101, 68 and 46 during the closures.

Caltrans is closing the highway as a safety measure due to the coming storms in Monterey.
