Motorcycle crash in Santa Ynez Valley sends one to hospital with critical injuries
SANTA YNEZ, Calif. - A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Santa Ynez Sunday.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reported to the motorcycle accident on the 1900 block of N. Refugio Rd. in the Santa Ynez Valley around 12:32 p.m.
The driver, a male in his 20s, suffered critical injuries after colliding with a horse trailer that was being towed.
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, there were two motorcyclists driving down a driveway. Once they hit Refugio Road, a truck pulling a horse trailer pulled out to make a turn and one of the motorcyclista hit the trailer.
The truck driver did not feel the crash and kept driving for about a mile before realizing the damage to his truck.
Once he realized, the driver went back to the scene of the crash and cooperated with police.
The motorcyclist who ran into the horse trailer was flown to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via helicopter.
The driver of the truck and the second motorcyclist did not receive any injuries and are OK.
