Santa Barbara structure fire ruled an accident

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Santa Barbara City Fire Department ruled a structure fire over the weekend an accident on Tuesday evening.

On Saturday morning, Santa Barbara City firefighters responded to the scene of a structure fire on the 1300 block of Dover Road in Santa Barbara.

Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved with flames.

Santa Barbara County Fire and Montecito Fire Protection District also responded to assist with the fire.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire from the outside of the building and helped prevent fire from spreading into the surrounding vegetation and neighboring residences.

The fire destroyed the home and caused over $1.8 million in damages.

One person, who was in the home, escaped the fire without injury.

Firefighters found that the fire was most likely caused by an electrical malfunction.
