Goleta continuing to offer rental assistance to residents

GOLETA, Calif. -- The City of Goleta is continuing their rental assistance to residents in the area.

The City says there is still money left to help residents who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 either from job loss or reduction in wages.

Residents can apply for rental assistance funds through the Housing Authority of Santa Barbara County.

“The City is glad to be able to support our residents during these difficult times. We hope that by providing a program to assist with rent, we can ease some of the stress that people are feeling,” said Interim Director of Neighborhood Services and Public Safety Jaime Valdez.

The City says when the application is approved, applicants may receive up to $5,000 or up to 3 months of current and/or past-due rental expenses. The assistance payments to applicants will be paid directly to landlords.

Residents can apply by providing proof of residency, their household income must be 80 percent or below the area median income, must show proof of income loss related to COVID-19 with eligibility starting last year on March 13, 2020.
