Carpinteria man identified as deceased surfer

RINCON BEACH, Calif. -- Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office identified the deceased surfer at Rincon Beach on Wednesday morning.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Public Information Officer identified Lauren Campbell, 38, Carpinteria as the deceased surfer in Tuesday's incident at Rincon Beach.

On Tuesday around 2:05 p.m., the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a surfer in distress at Rincon Beach.

Fire officials say they got a report of a surfer turned over face down on a board in the water.

Multiple emergency responders arrived on scene to the beach area off of Puesta Del Sol off Bates Road that turns into Rincon Point Road.

Officials said CPR was in progress before Ventura County Fire got on scene.

Ventura County Sheriff's helicopter did not transport the victim to the hospital because the victim had already passed away.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident.

Campbell's cause of death still pending.
