HERITAGE RANCH, Calif. - A group of heroic bystanders jumped into action on Thursday to save a driver whose car drove into Lake Nacimiento.

The incident happened near Heritage Ranch.

Pictures show the group of bystanders swimming into the Lake to retrieve the driver from the sinking vehicle. The car can be seen fully submerged by the time the group is paddling back to shore with the driver.

CAL FIRE responded at least one engine to the scene and reported the driver was fortunately not injured.

They said Monterey County Park Rangers are now investigating how the car ended up in the lake in the first place.
