Winemaker Jac Jacobs of SLO County to judge at 2020 San Francisco Wine Competition

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Jac Jacobs, Winemaker for Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards in San Luis Obispo, was invited to be a judge in the 20th Anniversary San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC).

The SFCWC is the biggest wine competition in North America with an estimated 6,700 wines entered. These entries come from over 1,130 wineries from the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Over 65 professional wine judges will be present at the competition representing various media, trade, winemaking, education and restaurant/hospitality industries.

Jac Jacobs was asked to be a judge in the 2020 competition when Bob Fraser, Executive Director of the SFCWC, visited the Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards in the winter of 2019.

Jacobs is one of two Central Coast winemakers invited to judge in the 2020 competition and he is the only representative from San Luis Obispo County.

The other 2020 Central Coast judge is Sarah Mullins of Rancho Sisquoc Winer. Past judges from the Central Coast include DeWayne Holmdahl, an industry representative from Lompoc, Gerry Ritchie, a Cal Poly Professor, Jasden Aumard of Sextant Wines in Paso Robles and Sherrie Holzer, Assistant Winemaker from Castoro Cellars in Paso Robles.
