CHP focuses enforcement efforts in Buellton Thursday morning

BUELLTON, Calif. - California Highway Patrol implemented increased enforcement on Highway 101 in the Buellton area Thursday morning.

The enforcement took place between the Buellton city limits and Gaviota State Beach.

CHP said numerous drivers were stopped, cited and educated on the dangers of speeding ― particularly on this stretch of the highway.

It is important for drivers to be aware of their speed, surroundings and the weather conditions while they're out and about. CHP wants to ensure the safety of the Buellton community and those visiting or just passing through.

CHP said maintaining good driving habits and situational awareness will help to prevent accidents.

This includes putting your phone down while you drive, eating before you leave your house or waiting until you arrive at your destination and watching your speed.

CHP values the community's safety and appreciates all efforts to help reduce accidents.
