Woolsey Fire victim gives back one year after losing home

Ever since former UC Santa Barbara basketball player JD Slajchert lost his family home in the Woolsey Fire he's been giving back.

Giving back to his community, his friends and family and now giving back to other victims of devastating events.

Slajchert has turned his loss into a message of healing. Traveling across California as an American Red Cross Ambassador. Visiting the site of fires and other disasters speaking to the people who are dealing with what he’s already been through.

JD joined FOX 11 to talk about the one-year anniversary of the Woolsey Fire and what he’s been up to since.
