Turkey Drive: Santa Barbara County donations benefits Good Samaritan Shelter clients in Santa Maria Valley and Lompoc

KEYT

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- Hundreds of Good Samaritan Shelter clients in Santa Barbara County stand to directly benefit from the NewsChannel 12 Turkey Drive.

The annual fundraiser collects donations for community members in need in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

For people who donate online, they have the opportunity to choose which nonprofit organization they would like to direct their financial contribution to.

Contributions made on the final day of the Turkey Drive, on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at in-person collection sites, will stay in the communities where they are received.

All donations given in Santa Barbara County will go directly to Good Samaritan Shelter, the Santa Maria-based nonprofit that provides programs that address homelessness as well as alcohol and substance abuse.

In addition, Good Samaritan also shares donations with several other Northern Santa Barbara County nonprofits, such as Salvation Army, Central Coast Rescue Mission and Fighting Back Santa Maria Valley.

On Nov. 16, Good Samaritan will collect turkeys, non-perishable food and other donations at the NewsChannel 12 Santa Maria studios, as well as Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Lompoc.

Donations made in Santa Maria will remain in the Santa Maria Valley, while those made in Lompoc will remain there.
