Officers identify motorcyclist who died in HWY 101 crash in Camarillo
CAMARILLO, Calif. - California Highway Patrol has released the identity of a motorcyclist who died in a crash on Highway 101 in Camarillo Sunday evening.
It happened around 4:09 p.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Camarillo Springs Road.
CHP said a 17-year-old girl was driving a 2018 Nissan Versa southbound on the freeway. At the same time, 43-year-old Colby James Stoker of Granada Hills was riding a 2021 Harley Davidson motorcycle also in the southbound lanes.
For reasons still under investigation, officers said the Nissan and Harley Davidson collided with each other.
Ventura County Fire crews responded to the scene along with CHP officers and Stoker was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
It is unclear if the driver of the Nissan sustained any injuries.
All lanes of the freeway were closed in the area for about four hours starting at around 4:50 p.m.
CHP said, at this time, they have not determined if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
