Homeless camp fire extinguished near HWY 101 onramp in Goleta

GOLETA, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Fire crews fought an early morning homeless encampment fire near Highway 101 in Goleta.

The fire was reported Saturday around 1 a.m. next to the Los Carneros onramp.

Firefighters responded three engines and a battalion chief to the scene.

They reported finding a vegetation fire near the railroad tracks that was determined to have been started in a nearby homeless camp.

Crews remained on scene for some time making sure the fire was completely out.

No injuries were reported.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
