Man arrested in Moorpark for suspected DUI with drugs and illegal firearm
MOORPARK, Calif. - A Moorpark Patrol Deputy performed a traffic enforcement stop on multiple vehicles for blocking an intersection around 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The intersection was at the 500 block of Moorpark Avenue.
Deputies said one of the vehicles was driven by Ampelio Duarte Carillo, 20, who identified himself with only a Mexican passport. It was later determined that Duarte Carrillo's driver's license was suspended for a prior DUI arrest.
The deputy who stopped Duarte Carrillo reported that he was showing signs of being under the influence of drugs during their interaction.
A DUI investigation was conducted and resulted in Duarte Carrillo's arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of meth as well as driving on a suspended license for DUI.
During a search of Duarte Carillo's car, deputies found meth, several small baggies for packaging drugs, a functional scale, a fraudulent Resident Alien Card, a fraudulent Social Security Card and a loaded unregistered handgun.
Duarte Carillo was booked at the Ventura County Jail on several charges related to the sale of drugs, unlawful possession of a firearm and driving under the influence of drugs. His bail is set at $250,000.
The Ventura County Sheriff's Office said Duarte Carillo's car was impounded. His court date is pending.
