Ten people displaced after early morning apartment fire in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. - Nine adults and one child are without a place to live after a fire broke out inside a small apartment building early Friday morning in Oxnard.

Smoke was seen billowing from the Channel Islands Park apartments along the 600 block of Bismark Way around 4 a.m.

Firefighters said the fire broke out in the attic of a second floor apartment in a four unit building, forcing all of the tenants to evacuate.

The roof was damaged in the fire and it's unclear when the residents will be able to return home. Damage estimates are around $250,000 for the building and at least $50,000 worth of personal property

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
