SoCal Edison considering turning off power in parts of Santa Barbara, Ventura Counties

Heading into the busy Thanksgiving week, Southern California Edison is warning of potential public safety power shutoffs along the south coast.

Forecast winds Monday night ahead of a winter weather advisory the rest of the week has the power company ready to turn off the lights. Some 4,000 Santa Barbara County customers are in the PSPS zone. While 14,000 Ventura County customers fall in the impact zone on the SoCal Edison website.

The potential for public safety power shutoffs continues until Tuesday November 26.

Santa Barbara County officials are urging residents to sign up for emergency alerts at readySBC.org.
