Thousands without power in Santa Barbara

Nearly 6,000 Southern California Edison customers were without power in Santa Barbara.

The outage started just after 4 a.m. affecting what appeared to be two or three neighborhoods in the city. Edison reported 3,439 customers in the dark along the Santa Barbara Harbor and into West Beach. Another 2,446 customers were without power on the Mesa. Power to many customers has since been restored. Off-and-on outage keep popping in those areas.

NewsChannel 3’s operations in Santa Barbara lost power and was running on generator power for much of the morning.

SoCal Edison has identified “equipment failure” as the cause of Tuesday’s outages. Power is expected to be restored to all customers by 12 p.m.
