Man wounded in apparent drive-by shooting in Ventura

The Ventura Police Department Command Center received several 911 calls of gunshots heard near Cameron Street and Cameron Court on Friday evening.

Officers responded to the area where a man had a single bullet wound. Police say he was taken to a local hospital. The injury was not life-threatening.

During the investigation, officers learned that the victim was at a party in the area where a verbal altercation took place.

As the partygoers left, a dark colored sedan drove by and someone inside fired several rounds toward the crowd.

The man was struck while trying to get to a nearby vehicle.

Police say there is no suspect information at this time.
