Los Olivos Street in Santa Barbara to temporarily close for new pavement project

The City of Santa Barbara will be closing down Los Olivos Street on Monday for a road pavement project.

Los Olivos Street between Laguna Street and Mission Canyon Road will be closed from Monday to Tuesday.

The two-day roadwork will create a smooth high-quality road surface in front of the Old Mission, the city said.

The temporary closure will begin Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, Los Olivos Street will be closed in the same area from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for the asphalt overlay.

Detours will be provided in the surrounding areas to minimize construction duration and ensure the least disruption to normal traffic flow.

The city is warning that drivers may expect delays in the area.

No parking signs will be posted at least 72 hours prior to construction.

Granite Construction will perform the grind and overlay work.

This roadwork is part of the Mission Street Project which is funded by Measure C sales tax funds.
