1 person critically injured in multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 101 southbound at Gaviota

One person suffered critical injuries in a crash on Highway 101 southbound near Gaviota Wednesday morning.

Santa Barbara County Fire says the first report came in just before 7:30 a.m. of a crash on the highway about one mile south of the Gaviota rest stop.

Five vehicles were involved.

Two people suffered minor injuries and another suffered critical injuries. Two other people declined medical treatment.

The highway was shut down for a brief time after the crash and traffic was backed up significantly for a short time.

All lanes are now open and traffic is flowing again in the area.
