Police arrest man suspected of starting fire in Ventura Target

Ventura police arrested a man who they say started a fire in a storage room at the Mills Road Target in Ventura.

On Nov. 29 at around 5:30 p.m., a fire was reported in a storage room at the Target store located at 245 S. Mills Rd.

The fire alarm sounded and the store’s sprinkler system activated.

Ventura City Fire Arson Investigators responded and determined the fire was incendiary. Ventura police said the estimated damage to the property totaled over $100,000.

Prior to the fire alarm going off, security footage captured a man leaving the storage room. Detectives viewed the security video and identified the suspect as 46-year-old Donnie Jenkins.

Last Friday, Jenkins was located on the 4200 block of Main Street where he was arrested on suspicion of arson.
