Nipomo woman pleads no contest to embezzling from area non-profit

A Nipomo woman has pleaded no contest Friday to embezzling thousands of dollars from a non-profit, according to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s office.

Chandra Dee Mehischau, 48, stole approximately $11,000 from Ag Friends between Dec. 15, 2015 and April 10, 2018, while she was serving as treasurer for the organization.

According to the district attorney’s office, Mehlshau will most likely receive a sentence of 90 days in jail and three years of felony probation. She will also be required to pay restitution to Ag Friends.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 19.

Ag Friends is a non-profit organization that works with Nipomo High School FFA to provide scholarships and other agriculture-related opportunities to the students.
