Orcutt barber gives back to federal workers

A barbershop in Orcutt is giving back to federal workers who were out of work due to the government shutdown.

Alberto Licerio says he has been a barber in Orcutt barber for 10 years. He said at difficult times the community has to come together.

“We have a lot of clients that work for the federal prison that are being affected by the government shut down. I have a couple of clients that have multiple boys,” said owner of Old Orcutt Barbershop, Alberto Licerio.

Licerio decided he would give back in the only way he knows how, free haircuts for all federal workers that were affected by the shutdown.

“I’m just trying to help out, the community, give back and stuff,” said Licerio.

His barbershop is a known staple on Broadway St and a family place the community enjoys.

“I think it’s really great, I think it’s a sign of a businessman who really cares about his customers more than just his bottom line,” said longtime customer Stephen Wagner.

Licerio said even though the strike is over many of his customers don’t get paid right away. He said until they do he will lend them a helping hand.

“We all have to stick together in times like this and I’m really pleased to see it,” said Wagner.
