Multiple barks mark end to law enforcement career

The Santa Barbara Sheriff’s department gave a large farewell bone to its K-9 Aco at the Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday.

Aco was excited about the gift and let out several barks similar to the aggressive sounds heard during an eight year career with Senior Deputy Ken Rushing. As Aco goes into retirement, Rushing remains on the front line.

A resolution of commendation was presented by Sheriff Bill Brown noting numerous incidents that led to arrests and involved Aco. The German Sheppard was also successful in finding over a thousand pounds of narcotics.

The Sheriff’s department currently has three K-9’s in service and is planning to add another team soon.
