McGrath State Beach closed due to flooding

McGrath State Beach has been shut down due to increased flooding caused by the Santa Clara River Estuary.

The beach is home to hundreds of wildlife species and nine different ecosystems.

Flooding there happens when water backs up behind the sandbar and blocks the mouth of the estuary. Park officials said the beach will remain closed until floodwaters recede, cleanup, and repairs are completed.
