Convicted felon faces gun and resisting arrest charges
A convicted felon faces more charges tonight after police in Oxnard said he fled and then resisted arrested.
Officers with the Special Enforcement Unit spotted Steven Alcazar in the 200 block of Gibraltar St. around 3 pm.
Alcazar had a felony warrant out on him. When police approached him they said Alcazar took off and ran into a nearby home. During the foot chase, Alcazar reportedly tried to assault the officers, one of them suffered a minor injury during the scuffle.
He was taken into custody. On Alcazar at the time of his arrest was a concealed handgun and heroin, according to police. He is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Alcazar was charged with five different felonies related to possessing firearms, and a felony charge for resisting officers with violence or the threat of violence.
Oxnard police also revealed Alcazar is a “post-release offender” which is a California voter-approved supervised release offered to nonviolent offenders.
