Community organizations join together to remember 1/9 Debris Flow with community

The community is invited to a special remembrance ceremony on the one-year anniversary of the 1/9 Debris Flow.

The gathering and candlelight vigil is called Raising Our Light: An Evening of Remembrance in Montecito.

The event is hosted by the 1/9 Anniversary Planning Committee which is a collaboration of dozens of local groups and organizations.

The event takes place on Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Lower Manning Park. A short-program with a host of speakers will be followed by a candlelight procession down San Ysidro Road and ending at All Saints-by-the Sea Episcopal Church. Candles will be available to all participants.

Shuttles will be available to transport people from areas in Montecito, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria.
