Two Ventura County men arrested while in possession of stolen vehicle

Two Ventura County men were arrested Wednesday morning after they were found in possession of a stolen vehicle.

According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers responded to a call of two men creating a disturbance in the carport of an apartment complex in the 600 block of West Channel Islands Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers found suspects 20-year-old Jose Aguilera of Oxnard and 20-year-old Jonathan Gariby of Port Hueneme inside a 2012 Mini Cooper. During the investigation, it was determined the vehicle was reported stolen in Oxnard on November 26, 2018. Officers searched the vehicle and located burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, among other items, police said.

Aguilera and Garibay were both arrested on felony charges.

The Oxnard Police Department is offering these tips to neighbors: Never leave a vehicle unlocked or unsecured Never leave keys in a car, even if they are hidden Never leave a car idling and unattended Wheel locks, brake pedal locks, and steering wheel locks can also be effective in reducing vehicle thefts
