Santa Maria announces Christmas tree collection plan

The City of Santa Maria is letting its residents know when crews will pickup Christmas trees.

The free collection will happen Monday, December 31 st to Saturday, January 5 th along trash collection routes.

Anyone getting rid of a tree will need to put it on the curb at least three feet away from trash containers on a scheduled collection day.

Crews will be going through one day later than usual during the holiday week.

The trees need to be free of all stands, tinsel, and ornaments.

Flocked trees will not be accepted.

The city says it will charge anyone who leaves a tree on their curb after January 5 th .
