Donate for Dennett fundraiser to help surivor of paralyzing fall

A fundraiser is in the works this weekend to support a young Santa Barbara man recovering from a paralyzing fall.

Wyatt Dennett suffered severe injuries to his spinal cord two days before Halloween; the 20-year-old fell from a three-story balcony.

Dennett’s close friend, Carter Soto, and others are organizing the event this coming weekend at Padaro Grill. Proceeds raised will go to the GoFundMe account established to help Dennett with medical costs and other bills.

Soto said despite Dennett’s long-term recovery, his friend has a great attitude.

“He’s a really hopeful kid,” Soto told reporter Beth Farnsworth. “He’s showing great progress. At the beginning of the injury, he was fully incapable of making any movements. But now, he’s able to flex and move his bicep, that makes him move his whole arm so that’s giving him a pretty bright smile on his face.”

Dennett’s fundraiser will be held at Padaro Grill at 3765 Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria on Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
