Five Cities businesses need help making Christmas stockings for fire victims

Five Cities businesses are teaming up to spread some Christmas cheer to the victims of the Camp Fire and they could use some more elves in the workshop!

Chameleon Style in Arroyo Grande and The Sewing Cafe in Pismo Beach are trying to make 1,000 Christmas Stockings for those impacted in Paradise by December 12, 2018.

Camay Arad with Chameleon Style is providing multiple bags of scraps to help make the stockings.

Volunteers will have “free range” of Chameleon’s fabric stash.

Folks are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines or use one of the six machines and supplies provided by the Sewing Cafe.

People are also welcome to take scraps home to make stockings.

Anyone in the community who sews or wants to learn how to sew is welcome and needed. Even if you just want to come to help cut out the patterns, you’re welcome to stop by the Chameleon Store anytime Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m.

“I get teased for never throwing any fabric away so now this is a great opportunity to put all these scraps from our workroom to good use. This is a wonderful and easy project to do something creative and personal for a community in need,” said Arad.

Gift cards ranging from $10 to $20 dollars are also needed to help fill the stockings. Gift Cards can also be dropped off at the Sewing Cafe in Pismo Beach.

Valerie Mercado Noble with Noble Productions is helping to arrange the distribution of the stockings.
