High praise for UCSB from College Cup champion Maryland

The weather was ideal in Santa Barbara for the College Cup and the participating teams thought UC Santa Barbara did an excellent job of hosting the tournament.

Just minutes after winning the program’s fourth National Championship, Maryland head coach Sasho Cirovski told KEYT Sports Director Mike Klan, “they talk about this being Soccer Heaven, this is Soccer Heaven, they have done an unbelievable job, the support from the university, the soccer coaches and from the entire community has been fantastic.”

The attendance for the entire weekend was just under 10,000 fans which might have been higher had their been a west coast representative among the four teams.

This was the second time that the College Cup was in Santa Barbara as UCSB hosted back in 2010.

It will return to Santa Barbara in 2020 after a stop in North Carolina in 2019.
