Four people displaced, one badly burned after house explosion in Lompoc

Fire officials are investigating a house explosion in Lompoc that left a man suffering from extensive burns to his upper body Monday afternoon.

The burn victim was flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for medical treatment.

The incident occurred in the 1000 block of East Pine Avenue. The first firefighters on scene reported smoke showing from the single-family home. Crews quickly put out a small fire inside the home.

Officials say the house suffered extensive damage and the rear wall separated from the foundation.

Four people were displaced from the home.

The cause of the fire and explosion is under investigation.
