Akron and Maryland advance to College Cup Final

Akron will square off against Maryland on Sunday for the NCAA Championship in men’s college soccer.

The Akron Zips erupted for five goals as they routed Michigan State 5-1 in the first semifinal of the College Cup hosted by UC Santa Barbara.

The only other time the College Cup came to UCSB was in 2010 and Akron won the National Championship so Santa Barbara has treated the Zips well.

Maryland shutout Indiana 2-0 to advance to their first NCAA final since 2013.

The Terrapins have yet to allow a goal in this NCAA Tournament.

The championship game is at 5pm on Sunday, December 9 from UCSB.
