Portion of Highway 1 reopen following heavier than expected rainstorm

–UPDATE–

Highway 1 – Pacific Coast Highway is now opened to traffic following a heavier than predicted rainstorm, Caltrans officials announced.

INITIAL INFORMATION

Authorities in Ventura County have indefinitely closed down Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1) in both directions from Decker Road in Los Angeles County to Las Posas Road in Ventura County due to heavy rain predictions.

Motorists are advised to use U.S. Highway 101.

A “shelter in place” advisory has been issued for residents in the area of Yerba Buena Road and Deer Creek Road due to heavier than previously forecasted rain.

Officials say the Doppler radar showed rain cells capable of displacing rock and debris into the roadway. Mud-filled roadways have already been reported for areas below the Woolsey Fire burn zone.

Residents are advised to stay off the roadway until conditions improve.
